Genus MD will make "someday" a reality soon! Developed by eHC with components of SD&I, Genus MD is in the production environment and is undergoing QA testing. It will then be rolled out to three HCA pilot facilities: Centennial Medical Center, The Woman's Hospital of Texas, and CJW Medical Center in Richmond. With the assistance of each of the facility's Physician Support Coordinator, eHC will introduce Genus MD to a selected group of pilot physicians and incrementally increase the number of physicians. The final step in implementation will be an open enrollment of all interested physicians.

The Genus MD project has touched virtually every department within eHC. Everybody from Graphics, Account Managers, Product Analysts, QA, Development, Technical Support, and Systems Engineering were involved in this project. Even the few that were not directly involved participated during the testing phase of the project. We also benefited from the work of the Meditech Web Development group, IT&S Customer Services, Infrastructure Services, and feedback from the Physician URG.

Genus MD is a custom application comprised of various components grouped together into a single Genus MD homepage for the physician. The user will have the ability to customize the layout of their Genus MD Homepage and personalize various components.

Security is a critical piece of the Genus MD product. SecurID is the "gold standard" in portable security solutions, trusted by over 10 million users. This two-factor user authentication method safeguards accounts from unauthorized access, ensures the secure transmission of patient information, and maximizes mobility by allowing the physicians to securely access their account from almost anywhere.

Other Genus MD applications currently in development include Genus MD Mobile, Report Editing, and Record Deficiencies. Genus MD Mobile will provide a patient's clinical data on a handheld device. Report Editing provides the physician the ability to edit a dictated report. And Record Deficiencies provides a comprehensive list of actions needed for the physician to complete a patient's medical records.

Genus MD will revolutionize how HCA affiliated physicians access their clinical data and care for their patients.
